Coronary Heart Disease- a Common and Deadly Disease
Thursday, October 15th, 2009
When it comes to heart disease, coronary heart disease is a common condition. That is why we all should be well aware of the disease. When the blood vessels are jammed with fat or cholesterol, the blood cannot reach the heart at an expected rate. This causes serious problems to the heart and this condition is known as coronary heart disease. Coronary heart disease is the most common reason of heart attacks all over the world.
The main reason of coronary heart disease is said to be cholesterol. The level of cholesterol in blood varies among population. For instance in Japan, the cholesterol level in blood is low and the number of people with heart conditions and negligible. But as the cholesterol level increases, so does the number of heart disease patients.
Smoking is another major contributor in the process of coronary heart disease. Smokers have twice the chances of getting coronary heart disease than a non smoker. It has been proved that if a smoker does not smoke for 5 years, his chances of being attacked by coronary heart disease become as low as a person who never smoked. Smoking makes you inhale so many harmful substances including nicotine. These block the passage way of blood flow and heart cannot get enough fresh blood and eventually the coronary heart disease attacks.
Years back, in classic movies, the stars used to smoke tobacco so regularly. This arguably influenced so many people to smoke regularly. But things have changed now. Smoking in movies has been restricted unless it is really necessary. And guess what, the number of coronary heart patients have decreased in the last decade.
If you are a smoker, you will always come up with logics and excuses for smoking and you will probably never have a deficiency of people who would say that there is no connection between smoking and heart disease. But the truth is, we all know the truth and all we need to do is accept it.
To avoid this disease we should go by the basic health rules like, healthy food, regular exercise and off course quitting smoking is very important.
